Marco Polo Topic Groups

We now have groups on Marco Polo that allow for specific topical learning and growing!

This way we can keep conversations a bit more organized, and also, if you don’t want to learn about Essential Oils, but would love to learn about Sourdough baking, you can still join! Just join the group that fits you the most, and enjoy having experienced mamas from all over the world to help you out at any moments notice! Theres always someone on:)

Marco Polo might feel awkward at first, but I promise you get used to it quickly, and will gain so much from these groups!

Here are the guidelines for using this amazing app!

Marco Polo is an amazing tool that we all have at our fingertips as members, and I’m learning and growing so much because of this app, and now have a great community of mamas that I chat with daily so lets try hard to utilize it with everyone in mind!

1. Keep the focus on Homesteading in ALL the Marco Polo groups (minus the prayer group!) please, as this is what Homestead Mamas is all about!!

2. Try to keep polos to a 2-3 minute MAXIMUM! I know this is super hard, but try to think of it as you would a real life conversation, and leave room for others to jump in! Also if you have sent one MP that is 2-3 min long, try not to send another one immediately after that is just as long back to back!   You are more than welcome to connect with someone in a private chat on MP if you want to keep a conversation going! This has grown MANY amazing friendships, so please don’t be afraid to reach out to someone you feel you’ve connected with!

3. If you don’t know the answer to something, just wait for someone who has experience in that area to answer, and then if you have further questions, please feel free to expound on the question! But please allow the folks who have experience in that field answer first!

4. Also try and keep the polos in the correct groups! Garden questions in the gardening group, sourdough in the sourdough group, and prayer requests in the prayer request group!

5. Remember there are over 45 people in this group, so try to keep the amount of Marco polos you do daily to a reasonable number! We want everyone to have a chance to chime in!

6. And lastly, zero politics, cussing, or violence will be tolerated in ANY of these groups! Two warnings, then members will be asked to leave.

I have been so blessed by Marco Polo, truly! So I really hope that you all will be as well! I know it has been the favorite perk to many of you, so lets keep within these guidelines so that we can all enjoy it to the fullest!

We hope to see you on there!

Embracing Joy on a Humble Life Journey

Do you ever worry that your kids will miss out because of this homesteading lifestyle choice? This fear crosses my mind time to time. I’m sure many, if not most of you, could agree that it can be extremely difficult to get extended time away from the homestead for more than a full day, especially in the busy summer months when daily chores demand our regular attention…

Make The Mistake

Try, what is the worse that can happen? Ether, it works and that’s great or its failed and you learn. One lesson I learned early was to own it. If you laughed the loudest at yourself, it gave less room for other people to poke and bug about it. Plus, if you can grow to the point of being ok just uncomfortable (its probably always going to be uncomfortable failing at something) in your mistakes you are less likely to ignore or forget the important lesson that you were being taught. Unless its leaving hoses running for hours or all night, why is that one so hard to remember?!
